#30. I love that he...

...and I were married for time and all eternity 5 years ago.

Sometimes we still marvel at all the circumstances that brought us together so we would meet.

And we are so blessed that we did.

That he...

...makes me write lists for everything I don't want to forget.

"Why aren't you writing that down? You always forget if you don't write it down!"

Well, I wrote a list of everything I wanted to say this month. And it worked! Not that I would forget these things, but I would forget which ones I wanted to post and how to say them.

...

And I realized, with the last two posts, I put in pictures of only 3/4 of the cutest little Heckaman babies. Here's a couple of the latest addition:

That he...

...doesn't want to live in Idaho.

No offense, but I am really glad.

That he...

...comforted me when I lost my grandpa over the summer.

That he...

...let me cry on his shoulder, multiple times, when I found out about my mom's cancer.

That he...

...and I have such FUN jam sessions. He plays the guitar pretty well, and has tried to teach me (sometimes). But, I think singing is much easier than playing the guitar, so we've struck a deal.

Our most favorite is a choice selection of Blessid Union of Souls.

That he...

and I share inside jokes.

...

"I love inside jokes. I'd love to part of one someday..."

That he...

... likes to play games. He really likes his strategy games, like Risk (it's how we got to know each other).

He doesn't so much like, what he calls, "talking" games. You know, the games where the girls take forever to take their turn because they're talking about the latest pair of shoes they bought. (I'm not really sure of what he's talking about, but I know he would prefer NOT to play Apples to Apples.)
Of course, Monopoly is a strategy game, but he somehow never wins when we play, so we don't play it often...

That he...

...and I share similar (dis)tastes in food. We are sometimes soooo picky, but when it comes to just the two of us, we enjoy the food we make.

A sampling of what we DON'T like:

That he...

...can tell I need his help by the tone in my voice and that he's by my side in seconds.

I am reminded of this special quality of his because I saw my first (adult) spider outside our door today. Yes, it's that time again and I hope we get out of this stinkin' basement apartment ASAP because I HATE THEM SOOOOO MUCH!!! UGH!!!

(I was going to post a picture because I haven't done so in a while. I googled "brown spider" and got chills up and down my spine so bad I wanted to crawl out of my skin. Seriously, it was horrible. If you don't believe me, you should try it. And I still want to go throw up from having to look at them. I didn't want to put all of you through that same torture.)

That he...

...makes me want to be a better person.

That he...

...makes me a better person.

That he...

...has such a wonderful, great, loving, supporting, fun family that I like!

(Sometimes I look forward to going to Idaho--strange, I know.)

That he...

...likes my family. Even though we can be weird, and loud, and blunt, and intrusive... he likes them.

That he...

...is so considerate of others.

Like when we were approached by this woman at Macey's wanting a ride home. Classic tale of serial killer, right? (That's all I could think about.)

But he takes her home and talks to her the whole way.

Or normal things like remembering to invite my brother over when his brother is coming over to play games.

Oh, and there's this "special" home on our way to WalMart. One guy was standing out in the front yard, and starts waving at us when we were still a block away. Mike makes sure to wave big and smile for him. He says, "I'm not going to disappoint when he seemed so excited to see us."

He's so nice.

That he...

...puts up with my (lack of) ability to quote movies. Yeah, speaking of memorizing/knowing movie quotes and songs... He's really good and gets them dead on.

The only quote I can ever get right ALL the time is:

Heeeeeeeyyyyy yooooooooouuuuuu guuuuuuuu-uuuys

That he...

...makes up his own songs and sings them aaaallll the time! Yeah, speaking of music (see previous post) he LOVES it! It's really funny how good he is at plugging any words into any song. And then I have to ask "are those really the words?" "Is that really a song?" (Unless, of course, it's a Celine Dion song! HA!) What's better is when he plugs his own name into songs.

If you've never experienced it...it's pretty awesome.

That he...

...bought me a Celine Dion Christmas album this year so that I have even more Celine Dion songs to learn and memorize and sing and sing and sing and sing until my heart is content and my voice is gone!

This is the only other album I have of hers, so I technically can't call myself her biggest fan, but I LOVE these songs, and have them all memorized (which for me is a BIG challenge).

Buying me one of her albums is a HUGE deal:

-it's the next best thing to buying me tickets to her concert (which I actually DON'T want Mike to do because they are soooo expensive)

-he is encouraging me to sing MORE Celine Dion songs

-he has to then endure listening to me sing (loudly) along with Celine Dion

Seriously, I have been known to listen to, and sing along with this album three times in a row on car trips. I LOVE these songs! What a great gift!

That he...

...is the more rational and patient one when we have a fight.

(I mean "argument")

(I mean "discussion")

That he...

...takes care of me so well when I am sick!

not me...I look worse when sick

And it can be a challenge!

That he...

...is the only thing that I have wanted more than to have a classroom to call my own.

I went to an orientation today for a charter school up in Salt Lake. They are trying to fill quite a few positions and selected me to attend this orientation. Most of it was them trying to sell themselves to us, but we eventually did have a short group interview. I, of course, was with a couple other people who were History or Social Studies Composite. And, I was the one with the least experience or extra things I might be able to teach. Everytime someone said "I've taught this many years at that school in this subject" or "well, I have experience with this committee" it made me feel smaller and smaller. The only thing I have to offer is my GREAT desire to teach. I know that is something that is really important, but how do you show that off? How can I get them to see that I LOVE teaching, WANT to teach, and am GOOD at it?

That he...

...will forgive me for not posting yesterday. Whoops!

That he...

...knows what kind of flowers to get me.

(Not that I want flowers often--they die and there are much better gifts!)

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

That he...

...starts a task and doesn't stop until he's done. (This can be a little frustrating, like when I don't feel like working on it with him, but at least things get done!)

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

That he...

...had us make a chore chart, that we have looked at maybe twice since it was completed.

Don't worry. We have a (pretty) clean place. We just don't do the chores as often or as regular as we had intended. Spring cleaning anyone?

That he...

...loves his fish and this new found hobby.

Here's some pics I found online of the types of fish we have, since ours are so uncooperative.

The convict (our original for this round of fish). His name is Ted Bundy. And those little specks in the picture are what we used to have (babies), before they got eaten.

The Jack Dempsey. This one's name is Bower (even though we don't watch 24... It seems like he's referenced in almost every other show we watch.) And yes, ours can be pretty colorful sometimes.

This one is a firemouth. We either don't have names, or I can't remember them, for the rest of our fish.

This one is a Turquoise Severum. He is the most mild, and the most picked on, bus supposedly he will grow into quite a meany.

This last one is called a Green Terror. We got him last out of all the others. I can't remember if his name is indicative of his personality, but since he's the smallest, we won't know for a while.

We also have some plecos, which are the little ones that suck on algae, usually on the bottom of the tank. They can get big and ugly, so I didn't post a picture. Mike has promised me that ours won't get big and they won't haunt me when they are full grown. (Trust me when I say U-G-L-Y!)

That he...

...will intentionally look for video games that we enjoy together, or that I will enjoy. Just ask about Picross.

That he's...

...willing to do me a favor on a drop of a dime.

Like the other day when he went to campus an hour and a half early to talk to one of my counselors (while I was at work) so I could apply to a job with the right information.

Friday, April 2, 2010

That he...

...encouraged me to go back to school, regardless of how much we had to cut back. He knew it would make me happy!

Thursday, April 1, 2010

That he...

...is almost done with school. YEA!!!

p.s. April Fools Day is bad. First, the forces of nature made me sleep through my alarm. Getting ready in 20 minutes is difficult. And two--snow in April?
